When we start building, nature disappears. That must stop: we need nature to live a healthier and happier life. In addition, no account is taken of the fact that we have removed a number of important properties to place a building. During this hackathon you will work on a concrete building project. The municipality Boxtel has embraced the plan to build the Biomimicry Academy. Challenge: How can we preserve nature and even improve it when we start building? How can we do that tomorrow in the next project? Together we design a process, product or service that can enable developers and builders to include these nature-based services in their projects. The jury is known! At 16.20 CET, Jamaica den Heijer (Heijmans and BiomimicryNL), Eric Hol (Invisor) and Marjolein Fick (Boxtel Municipality) will receive the results.
Building is very common in nature. Birds build a nest for their young, termites build a castle for their colony. In nature, nature is increasingly in the sights. Nest boxes for birds are built in and roofs are being greened. But nature is still disappearing when there is going to be built. With this, we also lose the power of nature to deal with climate issues. For example, the buffering and purification of water or the damping of heat. With this hackathon we work out solutions for how the construction can maintain and improve the qualities of nature. Do you have ideas? Join!
